I went on a shoot this weekend and found out that the father of this lovely little girl was someone I went to school with - such a small world! Once we had got through the "do you remember when..." conversations I got down to the great job of photographing his beautiful daughter. What a delight! She has the sunniest character you could wish for and made the job very easy as you can see...
What is it about children's shoes? I think as a parent it's just such a reminder of how old they are getting. I think back to when mine were small and all their gorgeous, tiny little shoes making my own look enormous in comparison. Then there was the flashing trainer stage - the joy of bouncing up and down a million times in the dark to show me how cool they were and now I look at the new school shoes just negotiated and paid for (no you can't wear heels that high to school!) and wonder how they grew so big so quickly. You could put a mast in my son's shoes and go sailing they are so huge! Maybe that's why, when I get to photograph little ones, I can't help but notice how cute their little feet are.....
Those three little words that bring joy to a woman's life...... Tiffany & Co! Happy birthday me :-) Thanks for all your lovely comments and b.day wishes. Thanks to my cheeky children who bought me a cake with a Dinosaur on it - yes I still love you (just!).
Well from now on I'm definitely counting backwards as I will be 42 tomorrow!! How can I be that old - I was only 32 five minutes ago and I only feel like 22. How does life creep up on you so fast? How can my kids be taller than me (actually for all that know me, that's not actually very hard!) Unfortunately the mirror tells the truth so I shall just have to get on with it and add some seriously expensive face cream to my birthday shopping trip to London.
To prove that I can still act young - if not actually be young, here's one of my favourite pics from the wonderfully talented Fred Egan that we had taken recently...
I was delighted to be asked to capture Carole & Soo's special day at Amberley Castle, West Sussex. A stunning venue and the most beautiful and touching ceremony I have attended (the first one I have ever cried at!). As you can see, the attention to detail was wonderful and the colours were a photographer's delight! It truly was a wonderful day and all the guest were delighted at the mode of transport to take them on to further celebrate into the night....
Never work with children and animals..... rubbish! This shoot was just a perfect way to spend a morning. Four dogs and a fairy costume (plus wonderful red wellies - must get some) complete with gorgeous little girl and her mum for a walk in the Sussex countryside. All topped off with a game of bubbles with the dogs and a cup of tea for me. Does it get any better than that - I love my job :-)
Sorry for not blogging, things have been rather busy of late and I've just got back from not so sunny California. Please accept my apologies if you have left a message on my answer phone while I was away and I have not got back to you as it appears to have malfunctioned and not recorded properly.
On the upside, while we were away, I got the wonderful Fred Egan to take to family pictures of us all at Crystal Cove, Laguna Beach. Check out his great work... Fred Egan Blog
